Thoma Lofts Update

There were some recent posts about this project being scrapped, so I decided to ask the developer directly.
“Just rumor Mike! We are going to start our pre-sales in April which will include very high level virual tour of the exteriors, interiors and finishes giving the prospective buyer a good sense of the lifestyle. We are introducing a new lifestyle produce to Reno that has been highly successful in other urban markets, received primarily by single and couple professional. We feel this is the right product and for this location however the market conditions are a concern, so we are going to move cautiously.”
Also, fencing is now up around the property. And check out the new pics!

Downtown Speaks: Far East Corner

Tucked away in the recently bustling Arlington Towers retail spaces, is the Far East Corner, a store specialing in imports from the Far East. I was curious to know how they were doing, given the fact La Bassola is leaving WeFi. Her store is doing good! Denise’s response, “It is so nice to hear from you. I am still here. In fact, my 1 year anniversary is Feb 18, which coincidently is Chinese New Year. I should have an event, but I haven’t quite figured it out yet. I have just taken over the Marketing Commitee chairmanship for the River Walk Merchants Association. We are going to try to be much more visible to the public so that we can survive down here. We also are going to try to be more active in a volunteering capicity as a group. We are going to be involved in the Marathon De Mayo, both as a sponsor and as volunteers and we are going to be active in helping out Big Brothers, Big Sisters. We also hope to develop more family friendly activities in the West Street Plaza. We, as River Walk/ Art District merchants want to help develop a great atmosphere here.”

Downtown Speaks: 210 North

DOWNTOWN SPEAKS: 210 NORTH - A few months back, there was quite a collective of negative vibes against the success of 210 North. So how are they doing now that the initial buzz has died sown a bit? Let’s ask Jill: “The response has been phenomenal and continues to grow. I’m not sure what’s going in downstairs but they have begun some remodel as well. We have plans to expand Divinity and add the balconies.”

New Feature: Downtown Speaks

I am starting a new feature, called Downtown Speaks, in which I will feature direct quotes from developers, downtown business owners, council members (if I can ever get them involved with this site), etc.
